Our Expertise
At Psychotherapy Dublin we offer a high level of expert support and therapeutic services to young children and adolescents who are suffering from mental health concerns. Our team of therapists all have memberships to at least two psychological bodies, and are trained to masters level in at least one area. This expertise is complimented by invaluable clinical experience working with both teens and children.
Child and adolescent therapy is an intervention used to support and help children and teenagers that are suffering from a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. Therapy can be very beneficial in helping them understand any distress they are experiencing.

Child Therapy (under 12 approx.)
Young children can find it difficult to talk about their feelings. This is due to them not having the words to express themselves. Psychotherapy Dublin uses the practice of Play Therapy to enable this expression to occur in a non-directive manner. The aim is to give children an understanding of painful experiences and upsetting feelings. The use of toys in the therapeutic setting equips a young child with the tools to play out their struggles and emotions in a way that is more natural to them.
Play therapy is suitable for children under the age of 12 and is suited to any child that is struggling with emotional difficulties like parental conflict or separation; emotional, physical or sexual trauma; children struggling with loss, phobia’s, illness or death and bullying.
The parents will be asked to attend the first session to give an overview of their concerns and may be requested to attend their own therapy in conjunction with the work.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescents experience many changes and difficulties over their teenage years. These pressures can lead to mental health concerns. Psychotherapy Dublin’s dedicated team are equipped to help and support teenagers with therapeutic support in times of distress. We have expertise in eating disorders, sexual trauma, separation depression, bullying, exam stress, sexual orientation.
It is important that the young adult feels secure to talk in a confidential environment. As such, parents will be asked to allow their child the freedom to attend their sessions on their own. Additionally they will be asked to sign a confidentiality form. In times where a family therapy may be required parents may be asked to attend their own individual therapy also.
